Tee’d Off With ALS event is Oct. 3
The Tee’d Off With ALS golf event is set for Saturday, Oct. 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Roland Barkau Memorial Golf Course in Okawville. Your participation helps support ALS research and patient care. You also can become a sponsor, dedicate a memorial garden tribute or enter the reverse drawing.

Chicken dinner Oct. 4 at St. Dominic Parish
A chicken dinner is planned for Sunday, Oct. 4, at St. Dominic Parish in Breese. It runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be two options: three chicken tenders or four pieces of chicken, plus sides. The cost is $15.


National life chain set for Oct. 4
Clinton County Citizens for Life will again take part in the National Pro-Life Prayer Chain. People from Breese, Beckemeyer and Carlyle will participate together this year. Those in other areas are welcome to join us or use your usual locations.
The prayer chain will be from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Intersection of Rt. 127 and Rt. 50 in Carlyle. We will be on the sidewalk behind the intersection. Come stand up for life! Signs will be provided. Bring a lawn chair if you cannot stand for the full hour. Come pray with us ... life is precious.


MD class of 1966 reunion planned
The Mater Dei High School class of 1966 is having a reunion on Saturday, Oct. 10, at St. Rose Community Building (next to Popeye’s Restaurant) starting at 2 p.m. Pizza from Joe’s Pizza and refreshments will be available. Contact Ken Brefeld (618-578-8967) with questions and to RSVP.


Dinner, holiday rummage sale at Aviston
The Aviston American Legion is having its fall pork sausage and roast beef dinner on Sunday, Oct. 11, serving from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will be carry-out dinners made to order, with sit-down dining space available. The traditional pork and quilt raffles will be conducted.
In conjunction with the dinner, the Auxiliary is hosting their annual holiday rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. featuring Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations only. At 3 p.m., it will be $4 per brown bag.
