The Carlyle building trades open house will be from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday. The house is located at 1450 Hodapp Court in Carlyle. Carlyle High School students are ready to show off a two-year project.
The Carlyle High School Building Trades open house will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday; it is open to the public. The house is located at 1450 Hodapp Court in Carlyle.
"It is a nice house," building trades instructor Jon Behrens said. "We don't try to cut any corners. We use pretty high-end cabinets."
The students began working on the project at the start of the 2024-2025 school year. There were 18 total students in three different classes working on the project.
The back of the Carlyle Building Trades house features a deck.
The house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a full, unfinished basement. It has more than 1,700 square feet.
Concrete Super Floors donated the epoxy floor in the garage.
The house will be listed instead of auctioned this year. Kues Bros. Reality is donating all of the listing, so it will not cost the building trades group anything.

Pictured is the kitchen in the Carlyle Building Trades house.wiring, plumbing and HVAC. They had a contractor come in and lay the brick and the students were able to help with that. The students do all of the drywall finishing, painting and trim work.
This is the 15th house built while Behrens has been head of the Building Trades class.
The next Building Trades house will be on the lot right next door to the house that was just built. Work will begin at the start of the 2026-2027 school year, and it will be a two-year project.
