A Hoyleton man was found deceased following a one-vehicle accident Tuesday morning on St. Rose Road near St. Rose.
Allen R. Weihe, 79, of Hoyleton was the driver of a gold 2021 Dodge sport utility vehicle.
According to the Clinton County Sheriff's Department, they received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a traffic crash on St. Rose Road at Cybertel Road. The sheriff's department, Breese Fire Department and Breese EMS responded to the scene.
A preliminary investigation shows that the 2021 Dodge SUV was southbound on St. Rose Road and for unknown reasons, crossed the center line and ran off the roadway to the east.
The vehicle struck a culvert, rolled multiple times and came to rest on its driver's side.
Fire department personnel were able to make entry into the vehicle, locating a single male occupant, identified as Weihe.
Weihe was extricated and given aid by EMS personnel, but he was unable to be revived. The Clinton County Corner's Office was then contacted.
At this time, it is unknown whether a possible medical condition or the crash caused Weihe's death.
The sheriff's department is investigating the crash.
